Hi there!
Welcome to my website, let me introduce myself
I'm Jenny and I'm a lot of different things at once. But mostly I'm a drama facilitator, performer and maker of textile crafts. I'm currently based in Leipzig and am always looking for opportunities to express myself creatively and to share my passion for theatre, arts & culture.
BIO
Jenny is a drama facilitator and theatre maker whose practise follows an interdisciplinary and participatory approach. She has been involved in theatre and drama since her early childhood. The positive input these experiences had on her life inspired her to pursue a career in this field. Jenny also sees herself as an textile artist using mainly crocheting and embroidery as another creative output
Her work is based on a playful approach that allows the people she works with to express themselves creatively and realise their artistic potential. Jenny sees each person she as independent artist and works with them in a collaborative manner, that aims to explore and experiment together. Within her creative practise Jenny lays a special focus on object theatre and wants to explore a more multisensory approach in the future.
Since 2016 Jenny has been leading and assisting with different participatory theatre and arts projects. Those covered working with young people aged 6 to 22, SEN pupils, adults and seniors in a range of different settings.
As a perfomer and theatre maker she has most recently been performing at the community theatre Ost-Passage-Theater. In addition to that she also works voluntary in the areas of kids- and youth theatre, booking, accsessibilty and event planning there. Jenny is a founding member of the ensemble kollektiv komplex and held the roles of co-artsitic director, co-producer in their debut production (Über)Lebensfragen, in which she acted as well. She is currently in the process of developing a play about the life expierences of fat people, as well producing the production Leben.Lieben.Leiden.
Jenny has been based in Leipzig since 2014 and spent 2019-2021 in London where she got her MA degree in Applied Theatre: Drama in Educational, Community & Social Contexts at Goldsmiths University of London.
Drama & Arts Workshops
My educational workshops are aimed at schools, socio-cultural centres and other organisations that work with people of all ages. It is possible to realise longer-term projects, or to hold intensive workshops lasting one day or more.
Theater
So much Drama! Let's go on a theatrical journey of discovery! We will explore different types of drama games, spin stories and create fantastical worlds. The focus is on play, fun and the opportunity to express yourself creatively. Whether it's an epic play or an abstract performance, the final result is in the hands of the players. I particularly enjoy working with the methods of object theatre and improvisational theatre.
Textile Crafts
Embroidery, crochet, weaving, dying. This workshop format is all about. Designing and making textiles. Participants have the opportunity to learn the basics of embroidery and crochet, build their own weaving frames, tie-dye garments and much more! In a longer-term project, after learning the basics of crochet, participants have the opportunity to realise their own crochet project (e.g. cuddly toy, item of clothing, pencil case) with my support
Puppet making
Let's make some puppets! We're going to gather everyday materials and even trash like newspaper, milk cartons, plastic containers and transform them into new puppet friends. Together we will give them live trough exploring what kind of character they are, how they move through the space and how they talk.
